High quality digital site reference images are captured for the core 1 hectare vegetation plot of the site on an annual basis to provide context for researchers to understand the general layout and vegetation of the study site, and as a visual reference to monitor any changes over time. Photopoints will be taken annually using the five point photopoint method. The set of images for each year usually consists of twenty images: four images taken at each corner of the plot facing each of the four cardinal points, and four images taken from the center of the plot facing each corner.

The 25 hectare site was established in 2009 and lies on the Atherton Tablelands in the wet tropical rainforests of Australia at 680-740 m elevation. It is situated in Danbulla National Park within the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area. The forest is classified as Regional Ecosystem (RE) 7.3.36a, complex mesophyll vine forest (Queensland Government 2006). The climate is seasonal with approximately 60% of rain falling between January and March and the landform is moderately inclined with a low relief. There are 208 species in the site, and average canopy height is 28 m, ranging from 23 to 44 m. All stems ≥ 10 cm diameter are measured, tagged and mapped. For additional site information, see https://www.tern.org.au/tern-observatory/tern-ecosystem-processes/robson-creek-rainforest-supersite/.

Other bioimages collected at the site include digital hemispherical photography, phenocam images taken from fixed under and overstorey cameras and ancillary images of fauna and flora.

Seedling surveys were conducted at the Robson Creek Rainforest site between 2010 - 2011. The identity and height of all seedlings were recorded along 98 x 20 m transects.
-
This data contains a list of all vascular plants surveyed in the Robson Creek Rainforest site in 2012.
-
This data contains leaf area index calculated from Digital Hemispheric Photography images taken at the core 1-ha plot within the Robson Creek Rainforest site in 2014.
-
This data contains ant abundance and incidence collected in the core 1 ha plot within the Robson Creek Rainforest site.
-
Gentry transects were established to monitor the vegetation abundance, cover and structure of the mid-stratum and subordinate stratum of the core 1 ha plot in the Robson Creek Raibnforest site in 2012.

Plant material decomposition in soil was investigated using two types of tea bags (Green and Rooibos) buried to 8 cm for 80-90 days across seven TERN Ecosystem Process monitoring sites between 2016 - 2017. The sites included: Great Western Woodlands, Robson Creek Rainforest, Samford Peri-Urban, Cumberland Plain, Cape Tribulation, Warra Tall Eucalypt and Tumbarumba Wet Eucalypt sites. Weight loss of tea bags was determined and contextual data collected.

This data contains stem diameter, height measurement and above ground living biomass calculations for an Australian tropical rainforest derived from a comprehensive ground survey of a large area from 2009 - present. Diameter and height measurements for stems ≥10cm diameter at breast height were sampled within 25 x 1 ha plots within the Robson Creek Rainforest site. Repeated measurements of individual trees have been conducted in the core hectare plot in 2010, 2015, 2019 and 2023.

This data contains a once-off general structural description according to the National Vegetation Information System (NVIS) levels 5 and 6 for the core 1 hectare plot in the Robson Creek Rainforest site in 2014. Dominant growth form, cover, height and species (up to 5 species in order of dominance) for up to 3 sub-stratum per traditional strata (Ground, Mid and Upper).

This data contains soil physico-chemical characteristics collected at the Robson Creek Rainforest site between 2011 - 2014.
