- Statement
- The collection of physico-chemical characteristics of soil from the Whroo Dry Eucalypt site was conducted 2015. Nine cores (50 mm diameter; 0-10 cm and 10-30 cm depth) were taken in core plot from geo-referenced locations on the corners (4) of the vegetation plot, equidistant from corners (4) and a single geo-referenced core from the centre of the plot (1). These 9 cores were bulked according to depth. Soils were stored in a refrigerator prior to analysis in the laboratory. Additionally, a large pit was dug to bedrock (1.6m) using an excavator, and a full soil analysis undertaken for the identified layers. Soil preparation was undertaken by a contracted professional soil scientist. With the exception of bulk density and gravimetric soil moisture, physical and chemical analyses were undertaken externally by a professional laboratory (Environmental Analysis Laboratory, Southen Cross University). The second analysis was undertaken in 2013, and samples were bulked from a nine-sample strategy - for each of two depths [0-10, 10-30cm], then prepared and externally analysed. For a detailed explanation of the methods, please see the attached Whroo Dry Eucalypt soil profile assessment document.
