- Statement
- Tree survey:
A vegetation survey was carried out at the core 1 ha plot at the Boyagin Wandoo Woodlands site in 2018. Tree circumference, diameter at breast height and height were measured for all stems within the core 1 ha plot.
Biomass calculations:
The biomass of each stem was calculated using published using either generic or species-specific allometric equations (source):
Allocasuarina humilis (Paul et al., 2013)
Banksia nobilis (Eamus et al.,2000)
Banksia sessilis (Eamus et al.,2000)
Eucalyptus accedens (Paul et al., 2013)
Eucalyptus drummondii (Paul et al., 2013)
Eucalyptus loxophleba (Paul et al., 2013)
Eucalyptus wandoo (Paul et al., 2013)
Melaleuca sp (Paul et al., 2013)
Santalum spicatum (Paul et al., 2013)
Xanthorrhoea preisii (Fensham et al., 2002)
Biomass of dead stems was calculated using a reduction factor of 85% of alive biomass (Bennett et al., 2013) Note: both alive and dead stems are included in the site level calculation of above ground woody biomass.
