The dataset comprises data from the first survey of ~24,000 large trees (>10 cm diameter at breast height; DBH) within 48 1 ha forest monitoring plots established across Australia between 2011 and 2015. Data includes: Site identifiers (ID and Site Name); Plot Establishment Dates; Tree identifiers and descriptors (ID, Species, Status, Growth Stage, Crown Class); Tree measurements (Diameter, Point of Measurement, Height, Location); Comments and ancillary information; and List of Metagenomic Sample Identifiers.
Data is provided for fifteen native forest plots in NSW measured in April 2021 during a pilot of potential field measurement methods for the state-wide forest plot network as part of the NSW Forest Monitoring and Improvement Program. Data includes tree height, diameter, canopy cover, species composition, coarse woody debris, fuel hazard, Biodiversity Assessment Method structure, as well as raw and processed data from terrestrial LiDAR scans.
The QBEIS survey database (formerly CORVEG) contains ecosystem physical and vegetation characteristics, including structural and floristic attributes as well as descriptions of landscape, soil and geologic features, collected at study locations across Queensland since 1982. The resulting survey database provides a comprehensive record of areas ground-truthed during the regional ecosystems mapping process and a basis for future updating of mapping or other relevant work such as species modelling.

Only validated survey data is made publicly available and all records of confidential taxa have been masked from the dataset. Data is accessible from the TERN Data Infrastructure, which provides the ability to extract subsets of vegetation, soil and landscape data across multiple data collections and bioregions for more than 100 variables including basal area, crown cover, growth form, stem density and vegetation height.
