Statement
Point Intercept transect floristics survey:
Point intercept transect survey undertaken using the standard TERN AusPlots method using 1000 line intercepts (5 north-south and 5 east-west transects with one point per m).
Shrub survey:
All shrubs with mature heights >0.5 m were included. This mainly excluded small chenopods and Ptilotus obovatus. Shrubs were measured in a total of 10 strips (10m x 100m) to cover the whole 1 ha plot. There were clear age classes present for Eremophila and Maireana. Total number of species at different height classes per hectare are presented. For a more detailed explanation of the methodology, please see the attached: White A., Sparrow B., Leitch E., Foulkes J., Flitton R., Lowe A.J. and Caddy-Retalic S. (2012) Ausplots Rangelands Survey Protocols Manual. The University of Adelaide Press. ISBN 978-1-922064-38-7.
