- <p>Bird occurrence sampling at the Boyagin Wandoo Woodland Nature Reserve was conducted at 12 spatially independent plots (minimum 500m distance apart). These plots included: 4 plots located in heath vegetation, 7 plots located in woodland vegetation and an additional site at the base of Boyagin Rock. In both spring (September 2018) and autumn (March 2019), each site was surveyed twice daily (morning and afternoon) on two consecutive days and again in the morning of the third day. For comparison, four heath sites across the reserve were also surveyed, although these were surveyed only once. The order the sites were surveyed each day varied to provide the best opportunity to sample the diversity of birds using the site. Bird surveys were conducted using the <a href="https://birdata.birdlife.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Survey-Techniques-Guide.pdf">Birdlife Australia Atlas survey technique</a>, with a 2 hectare, 20 minute sampling technique employed at each location. All bird species seen or heard were recorded.</p>
